"announced today that its website is receiving more than 1.5 million hits per month from potential subscribers requesting that their local cable or satellite carrier air the Q Television Network."

This is a blending of information. The key here would be "potential subscribers requesting that their" this would tell me that it's not how many people hit the page but how many people actually e-mailed, filled out a form, etc.

"The number of hits our website is receiving validates the huge demand for Q,”

This seems to tell me he is using the web page stats to determine this but it doesn't match the orginal statement if that is in fact true. Just because someone hits your page doesn't mean they are interested in your product. They could be directed to the site via a Joke IM or a web stumbling application.

The clear route is to e-mail investors relations and see if a clarifiation is put out on how they got the numbers.

I take them at face value and assume he is saying that 1.5 million page hits occured which all in all is not a bad fact to have. I also assume that the counters ignore repeat requests.
