It is my understanding that Etrade and Choicetrade do not allow shorting of any stocks under $5 a share. Ameritrade but with severe restrictions for most of us.
It is my understanding that some brokers allow Short Marginable Positions, however the margin requirment is usually so high they dont seem to be a lucrative move.
Point being you can short penny stocks and if I could find a way to short as a retail investor who spends $2000 on a trade like this, I'm sure MMs can find a way to short.
