Back in 1998 I talked to the ceo several times and dicussed the new technology and he sent me great color brochures with new app devices, and was there when sony reached an agreement with edig and started paying royalties to edig to develop their patent. These were (non exclusive) rights in particular, if you can find a copy of the contractit you will see that very clearly. So everyone else using their proprietary technology has been using it for free ever since, except when these users have settled with edig. And I think they got off with a very cheap deal, too cheap at that. Just a few years after that when revenues were really down I called up and suggested at that time none of these other users is paying for this technology, go after them. It reminded me of the silent submarine prop the pentagon was having japan make for us. All the sudden we find its being sold to the russians for gods sake. Look at china a few years ago making pirated eqipment of either cisco or texas instruments, its been awhile, but the point is the courts after they dissasembled the chip found china had sold 3 billion dollars of the carbon copied pirated eqipment , they got a cease and desist order and were ordered to pay back all the profits they stole. Then the issue of pirated cd's and dvd's. America has been hit by industrial and technical espionage for as long as I can remember, so as I said back then I say now "go for it". May god help edig win every future case.
