BARA Adds Redfearn as President, Ryan as CFO (5/13/11)

BOCA RATON, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Banyan Rail Services Inc. [OTCBB: BARA], announced today that Donald D. Redfearn has joined the Company as President. In addition, Jon D. Ryan has been named Chief Financial Officer of the Company.

Redfearn formerly served as President of RailAmerica, Inc. (NYSE: RA), one of the world’s largest short line and regional railroad holding companies, from 2004 to 2007, as Executive Vice President from 1989 to 2004, and as a director since its inception in 1986 through 2007. In addition, Redfearn has a background in financial services and spent 10 years in commercial banking. He received his B.A. degree in Business Administration from the University of Miami and graduated from the School of Banking of the South at Louisiana State University. Redfearn, who also serves as a director for Banyan, succeeds Gary O. Marino as President, who will continue with the Company as Chairman & CEO.

Ryan joins Banyan with over 14 years of major accounting firm experience, including as a Senior Assurance Manager at both Ernst & Young in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Smoak, Davis & Nixon LLP in Jacksonville, Florida. Most recently he was Corporate Controller at the The Gazit Group, USA. His experience includes SEC filings and reporting, financial statement preparation, financial and tax audits, and internal accounting controls. Ryan, a CPA, holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of North Florida. Ryan succeeds Larry Forman, who left the Company to pursue other interests.
