Ask size is 50k shares. Someone buys 20k shares and either the MM should have a new ask size of 30k or someone was selling 20k shares.
A few min later someone buys 100k shares and the ask size stays at 50k. This happens because the MM only has to show the largest block. If he has 500k broken up into 20k blocks he can sit there all day with a size of 50k.
Loophole
As for the spin off causing a short squeeze if they had done it in July of 2009 they would have nailed a bunch of shorters to the wall. I really doubt there are many people out there willing to short a stock that has been trading in a range forever. 99% of all of SRSR s shorts over the last 2 years were well over .03 and they could have easily covered in the past year.
I don't see how you couldn't see how both situations could happen
I could be totally wrong. Its just the way I see it
