Tenchu, Re: When you short a stock (or sell with the intention of buying it back), your basis is the number of shares times the price of the sale, not the price of the buy-back.

Thanks for the correction. I also agree with your point on buying puts, but of course options trading only works for stocks that trade options to begin with. smile
