About 25 years ago, I worked in TV news production. We were taught to be objective in our reporting. However, I learned how easy it is to manipulate sound bites and images to basically present anything in any desired way. I was just in college.
I'm sure with today's technology and know-how anything is possible. 25 years ago, the airwaves were considered to be public assets and no single conglomorate could own more than 7 outlets, including newspapers, TV, or radio stations. They've done away with that limitation and today we have centralised news sources. CNN is the main video source of most news now. Most local news is a rehash of CNN. So, how hard would it be for the government to get CNN (or any of the other networks) to present a certain story? Keep in mind that CNN is beholden to the FCC (the gob'ment) for it's license to operate a for profit station. And you think my suppositions are preposterous?
The facts are that the monied elite want to keep their private club exclusive. They don't want unrefined folks to see how well they live. They can keep us down by turning up the stress level in our lives. While we lose our jobs and homes, they eat caviar and laugh at our struggles. You can deny it if you like, but when you meet your maker, will he be impressed with your amazing powers of observation?
I appreciate your willingness to stand by your beliefs, to share your music and opinions. We will have to agree to disagree. That's what makes for a market, right?
The truth will be revealed in the fullness of time. I have no real emotional need to be right. I wanted to be alive during these very interesting times, and I am. We might be on the verge of awesome trajedy, or/and amazing revelations. I don't know for sure. But it will likely be an E ticket ride.
