I spoke to an associate that is an equity market maker in a couple hundred names at Knight. He said that typically there will be two buy in periods, one on or before the open and then one around 2:30-3. If the stock is trading your brokerage firm is supposed to give you a heads up. If the stock is halted like CCME his opinion was that the majority of buy ins would occur on the open with a second wave occurring in that 2:30-3 pm range, all should be covered by the end of the day.
