Yes the payments are usually one time paid in full for future use. Not that there is much future use since the patents expire soon.

The stock was up more then 10 fold not sure one the options pricing but its not surprising to see them sell. Though they did sell/register quite a high number of shares.

On the plus side their other (non-patent) business is growing and with the patent settlements they have built up quite a cash hoard.

Disclosure: I sold out a while ago and don't keep up with the stock too much. I hadn't check this board in a while too so just seeing the posts.
