QPSA Games update 4/20

“PLAYER” OR “SIGN-UP” DEFINITION
I finally got into the site after months of trying. (Cookies were the problem.) I see that you only have to click on the title of a game or the photo – in my case, just to take a look – and you are signed up as a player and it goes on your “My Games” list. You can delete titles from your list, but if you don’t, you’re counted as a player. Just by looking around for a little while, I inadvertently got six games on my “My Games” list.

WONDERFUL CITY
Wonderful City had 152 sign-ups at 11:34 a.m. EDT on Wednesday. This morning at 11:37 it was at 867. At 5:20 p.m. it was 1,027.

Wonderful City is not yet on the Featured Games page. Lil' Brownies seemed to jump up when it was added as a Featured Game a couple of weeks ago.

SMAP ME UP
Average daily sign-ups for the week are still low at 55,995, but are up from last week’s dismal 47,449.

Daily Averages
56,910 - week ending 3/23
60,629 - week ending 3/30
61,082 - week ending 4/06
47,449 – week ending 4/13 (x 31 = 1,470,919 per month)
55,995 – week ending 4/20 (x 31 = 1,745,835 per month)

GOODGAME MAFIA
Sign-ups slowed considerably this week after a couple of weeks of strong growth. I spoke to Brian Harvey last week (the only phone number I could find while looking for sign-in help. While I had him on the phone I asked a couple of questions.) He said this game has a very strong social aspect, as people join gangs with strangers and then invite their friends to join them. I was hoping it would remain strong – or even get stronger – but not this week.

EMI LYRIC & POKERVILLE, XFIRE ARCADE
The first two are continuing to attract about 2,000 to 3,000 new users per week. Not strong growth, but steady. These two are the Hollywood Creations skill-based wagering games that were announced last September: “Quepasa.com, has partnered with Hollywood Creations, Inc. to develop skill-based wagering games for its fast-growing social website…. Quepasa anticipates rolling out Hollywood Creations' first two titles, Lyric and Pokerville, initially, with more games in development. Lyric is a music knowledge game, which progresses based on points gained for completing various lyrics, whereas Pokerville connects and enables members to interact in virtual poker rooms…. Added Abbott: 'These games will complement the skill-based wagering games developed by Titan Gaming, which were announced in June and are currently being integrated into our site….'"

The Titan Gaming game is Xfire Arcade, as far as I know.

I asked Brian Harvey how the betting games were going and he said they had not yet developed traction, that maybe they didn’t have the right games yet.

OTHER
Also from Brian Harvey: I asked if the current games on the site are generating any revenue and he said, “Yes.” He wouldn’t say how much of course, but suggested that it’s much more important to focus on QPSA’s own games which are coming, mentioning the fact that they will also be monetized through Orkut and Facebook, as we know. Maybe I misheard, but I understood him to say that QPSA will get 100% of the revenue from Orkut and about 70% from Facebook. The Wonderful City PR says they will be working with Mentez, so I assume Mentez will be getting part of QPSA's cut.

He also emphasized that Quepasa the company is more than just Quepasa.com. He said Quepasa.com should be looked at as just one of their assets, alongside DSM and Quepasa Games. I gather this is one of the key points he will be trying to make to the Street. This may explain why they’ve started to say in presentations that DSM was developed outside of or separate from Quepasa.
