Looking back on this, I should have realized that Kirk was a greedy bastard and was only looking out for himself(and to some extent Fidelity). He was going to take whatever offer he could get and move on. I learned the hard way on this one, mainly because I sold my $25 calls too early and moved them too far out of the money.
