OT: Please forgive the long post-

Yeah thanks, sounds like you know that should work like a flat tire

trade2much: LOL. You've got it my friend, what do I know? After 40+ years of investing, all my picks and my entire portfolio are like four flat tires on an old jalopy (one very rich old jalopy, but anyway...)

Since Dew asked: I had a fantastic profit from AMRN yesterday. The Biotech Values board is my personal fav on iHub: the science, the no-nonsense depth and breadth of discussion, the general tone of logical civility. As someone once pointedly reminded me in a PM, I contribute nothing. But I use it, guiltily at times, as a great source of ideas and for what I consider—unlike 99% of other message boards—genuine DD.

Among the many knowledgeable biotech professionals here, I’m always especially impressed by jq1234. His post of March 31 really caught my eye (#msg-61581821):

Here is my list of candidates:

1. BiTE antibody/immunotherapy: MITI, CLDX
2. Generic/biosimilar/biobetter: PLX, MNTA
3. Ultrafast insulin: HALO, BIOD
4. Small molecule kinase inhibitor: ARRY, PCYC, EXEL
5. Antibody conjugate: IMGN, SGEN
5. Drug delivery/modification of existing drug: NKTR, HALO
6. Established small/mid cap: BMRN, ONXX

As you so astutely and quite accurately pointed out, anything that I came up with myself would be worthless. But even a knucklehead like me can absorb one lonely idea over a lifetime, and mine seems to be that experts have value.

I printed that list and tacked it on my bulletin board, then over the past couple of weeks I've done about as much DD as a non- scientist/doctor can do. My undergrad and graduate degree aren't in the sciences, and I often run up against info that I don't have the technical expertise to fully appreciate, but I do the best I can.

Dew suggested to me that I actually give the specific reasons for what I bought today, but IMO it would be presumptuously silly and unnecessary for someone like me to do that on a board like this.

Suffice it to say that after researching the names on jq1234's list (and I want to thank him for all the time and work it took to generate it) I bought a very large position in MNTA, and medium-sized positions in MITI, CLDX, BIOD, HALO, and NKTR.

I continue to appreciate all the talent, knowledge, and experience on the BV board, more than I can say. Trade2much, I certainly realize that they don't congregate here to help some pitiful flat tire roll down the road of stock market success, but besides the pure enjoyment of learning, that's what I use it for.
