Well I try to hit the bid when I am buying and sell at the ask but you are simplifying it a tad bit to much. If you only have 6-7 cent in it right now, and want to dispose you can sell at the bid. You also have to remember some of the people sitting on the bid are already in this stock. They are trying to max value on their money. So the people you are asking to sell at ask maybe buying at bid too.
