From the start of the "air share" trades I have wondered what would happen when the DIV shares were ready to "hand out" It would be known who owned what shares as of a date, but when the shares have a certain number of days to settle how would that trace back after so many months,

I keep reading there are no shorts now, but that is not really the point, its what where the shorts on the date of distrubution.

How do those shares get treated? How many people would be affected.... how many people would need to be made whole?
