Might be insiders selling early based on info they got, possibly the merger is off or something like that. Doubt if it's MM manipulation, that's way over exaggerated. Also the merger may already be priced in, if and when completed the PPS could drop.
It comes down to "buy on rumor" (merger speculation) "sell on news"
