From VP's comment on Yahoo Finance message board:

"FWIW, the Tombstone claims provoke curiosity in that LBSR only has 33 federal lode claims. This amounts to little more than 660 acres. Most porphyry copper projects cover thousands of acres.

So, why are LBSR's Walnut Creek/Tombstone claims so lacking in acres by comparison to the typical?

Just guessing, but here are a couple of thoughts.

1) Surrounding lands are already held by others, in which case LBSR may eventually own part of the deposit, or
2) This is a concentrated, very high grade, base & precious metals deposit that is epithermally associated with a nearby porphyry, meaning thousands of acres are not required for a major mining operation.

I will hope news shows the #2 speculation to be correct. We will know within the next few months.

At any rate, SRK would not be working as independent consultants here if this were not something special. They don't take contracts just to play in the dirt.

...all in my opinion and for what it's worth.
