So true, sog, so true. That ties right in w/ a little tidbit of very interesting info I was told the other night by a good friend of mine...

A friend of mine works for MCI's webhosting/server management farm (used to be Digex - one of the countries biggest in what they do...they have all the "Big" customers). Anyway, when I mentioned NEOM, again, to him (sent him the lastest TS NEOM/GOOG info) his reply was, "That explains why one of our biggest customers is DOUBLING their server capacity." I asked him who that was, he said, "UCCNet" (www.uccnet.org). He said they basically managed ALL THE BARCODES for "EVERYBODY". When I asked what he meant by "EVERYBODY", he proceeded to ramble down a list of big chains. The one that stuck in my head as Wal-Mart.

Apparantly, them doubling their capacity is unheard of. Normally, increases are done in small batches, piece-meal fashion, not an outright doubling of capacity. And, apparantly they already have a huge capacity (servers on east and west coasts w/ some spots in between - all the "Mac-Daddy" servers...biggest you can get - which BTW, when your dealing w/ basic barcode zero's and one's, that's a BOATLOAD of information).

Also, knowing that NeoMedia states that either THEY can be used to manage a company or organizations barcode links or the customer can manage their own barcodes on THEIR OWN servers, that REALLY got me thinking...

Why would UCCNet "all of a sudden" DOUBLE their capacity?

My suspicion is that each of their existing barcodes will now have two (double) functions...the one that they currently are used for and the other, the "next" thing they'll be used for...internet hyperlink connectivity: NAVIGATION!

Double the functionality, double to workload, double the capactiy! Getting ready for the "rollout"? :)

What's anybody elses take on this? Think I may be off base?

Would love others opinions.
Thanx,
