Baidu Back in the Mix??

From the last interview I saw that Lance and Allan are again talking about the Baidu agreement.

"The 2008 launch was probably a blessing in disguise," said Qtrax co-president Lance Ford, who was recently in West Palm Beach with the other half of the company's presidency, founder Allan Klepfisz. "We have survived where most startups from that time have failed."

And as a result, Qtrax is introducing its service country by country worldwide. They're taking advantage of an Asian market that doesn't have iTunes, and they even have an agreement with China's estimable search engine, Baidu. Baidu will steer music-related queries to Qtrax.

Qtrax's music downloading service, which is free to customers, is using an ad-supported model to work - unlike iTunes, which is pay-as-you-download, or subscription-based services like Rhapsody or the modern-day version of Napster, which charge a monthly rate to download a set number of songs.

In Qtrax's case, the music you download is free, so long as you play the music in the company's player. The files are saved as Windows Media files with Digital Rights Management protection."
