No, no addiction to oil just knowledgeable, in regards to possible mainstream implementation - try 100 years, if ever, because other better alternatives will be developed and introduced before then replacing the B-O [battery operated] Industry. With 2012-2013 replacing most liberals in office we are ready for a complete reset of these ideologies so you can forget 2020.. Try subsidizing your own usage rather than burdening taxpayers [Govt is Taxpayers, my money not governments] with your boondoggle while creating millionaires out of carpetbagger prophets like AL Gore. You might have been convinced on the front end you save on these novelty cars but in reality you end up paying front and backend costs through other means, such as increased utility taxation ect to pay for these subsidies ex. Los Angeles recently increased utility fees & taxes explicitly for solar and wind subsidies, 5% increase to be exact, whether you want that industry or not. My suggestion is, for those that believe in this industry, pay your own way and stop wasting other peoples money; truth of the matter is that with out assisted payments this industry will be cash for clunkers. Also the automobile industry is just a small percentage of oil and petroleum usage...
1.In transport: all fuels, not only for private cars (petrol or LPG), but also for transport company trucks, planes operated by airlines, diesel locomotives for the railways, etc. ;
2. In the home: heating oil, LPG or town gas, supplied in bottles, tanks or by the gas distribution network, for heating and daily requirements such as cooking;
3. In industry: industrial boilers, thermal electricity power stations operating with gas or fuel oil, industries using the non-fuel products from refineries that are known as specialty products;
4. In the petrochemical industry: naphtha and gas for petrochemical processing to supply raw materials for the manufacture of plastics, textiles, etc.;
5. In the public works sector: the main product used is bitumen for all road surfaces from local roads to motorways and on to aircraft runways;
6. In agriculture: for tractors or other agricultural machines, greenhouse heating and drying.

No I'm not addicted to oil, just a realist?...hehe
