To preface the point I am trying to make, here is a little board history for everyone:

The original HMP concept was extremely ambitious. We were actually calling a sell for every buy! Other boards don't do that for obvious reasons -- it can create dissonance from holding bulls. But we were primarily a 1-2 day trading board back then so it actually made some sense. The thinking was, if we were truly helping others make money with us, how could we leave them hanging with only buy calls? The "buy low" part of the equation is relatively easy IMO...what many traders need help with is the "sell high" piece.

Was it possible we could make a sell call on a ticker that went on to keep running, making us look bad? Yes, and that was a chance we were willing to take. Yet because of our short-term trading window and the fact that we only playing them immediately before and after huge MOMO moves, most of the sell calls were actually quite good. After dropping temporarily from the loss of MOMO, did some of the stocks recover, find a new base, and actually become decent longer-term holds? YES. But again, within the context of our board, a sell call didn't mean we hate the future of the stock; it meant this would be a good time to lock in profits.

Now that we have evolved to include other types of trading strategies, I completely understand why continuing to apply the original plan would be very awkward. I'd still like to find a way to incorporate something that stays within that original mission's spirit: giving our fellow traders guidance and suggestions on "when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em". A few months after we got started I started tempering the sell calls with posts like this:

I may start posting that way again (not speaking for the unified board like I used to do). You don't have to post any sells if you don't want to Dawg.

But I do think we need something that equates to calling any longer-term pick as "not currently being played anymore" aka off. Take the Sleeper-Creepers for example. They could sit for awhile, make a nice move, then retract below the call price all within days. Why would we move all Sleeper-Creepers to the iBox when some of them will have already made the move by that time? I think many bag-holders are created by people or boards 'endorsing' a stock without any indication of when the move has sufficiently lost steam. We have some smart followers here...still, if it's so easy to figure out, why are there so many bag-holders on iHub?

You can PM me your thoughts and let's see if there a way to accomplish what I am describing in a way that you can be comfortable with. I am posting this publicly because I am also interested in hearing feedback and suggestions from HMP followers -- any of you can PM me as well!

Best,
DrZ
