HOUSTON, Apr 27, 2005 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Botaniex, Inc. (BTXI: Pink Sheets), announced today that it has appointed Jacking (Jianqing) Zeng as Chief Operating Officer of the Company.

Jacking Zeng brings to Botaniex, Inc. a wealth of experience in research and development, technical innovation, manufacturing and quality control of botanical/herbal ingredients. In particular, his expertise in Super Critical Fluid Extraction (SCFE) provides a unique competitive advantage to Botaniex. Mr. Zeng holds the rights to several patent-pending products and has developed over 80 types of herbal ingredients, which add significant asset value to Botaniex Inc.
Prior to joining Botaniex, Mr. Zeng was Technology Director of Shanghai Novanat Bio-Resources Co. Ltd, and oversaw the operation of two plants; focusing on new product development, improvement/innovation of manufacturing processes and establishment of quality control systems. He was also responsible for the selection and evaluation of outsourcing partners with a view towards capacity expansion and cost reduction. Before joining Novanat, Mr. Zeng held the position of Vice President of the Botanical Extracts Division of Qingdao Yizhong SunStar Co., Ltd. where he developed several innovative ingredients with the advanced extraction technology using carbon dioxide (SCFE). These ingredients are very popular because they are of high purity, residue-free, safe and of high efficacy.
Prior to his tenure at Yizhong SunStar, in 2000 Mr. Zeng was Professor of Guangzhou Institute of Chemistry/China Academy of Science, where he was awarded with the Title of Outstanding Youth and The Prize of ScienTech Improvement. In 2001, he performed research on Super Critical Fluid Extraction with Carbon Dioxide, as a Senior Visiting Scholar to the University of Tokyo, Japan and his achievements were highly recognized by the university. In addition, Mr. Zeng has published over 50 essays and articles on the extraction and development of herbal ingredients, which were featured in several reputable magazines in China. In particular, he co-authored one of the most influential books in the botanical extraction field entitled, "Technology of Super Critical Fluid Extraction and its Applications." Mr. Zeng received a Bachelor of Science from Hunan Normal University, MS, and a PhD in Chemistry from China Academy of Science.
