Energy stocks fall back after gains

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Energy stocks fell back on Monday after rising in recent days, as crude oil prices dropped. The NYSE Arca Oil Index (XOI 1,371, -2.57, -0.19%) fell 0.3% to 1,370. The NYSE Arca Natural Gas Index (XNG 687.80, -1.79, -0.26%) dipped less than 0.1% to 689. The Philadelphia Oil Service Index (OSX 293.75, +4.46, +1.54%) dropped 0.7% to 287. Among stocks on the move, Nabors Industries Ltd. (NBR 29.31, -0.26, -0.88%) fell 2% and BP PLC (BP 45.99, -0.88, -1.88%) dropped 1.2%. First Solar (FSLR 153.95, +3.51, +2.33%) rose 2.7%. Peabody Energy Corp. (BTU 71.16, -1.47, -2.02%) fell 1.8%. Crude-oil futures dropped 1.5% to $103.85 a barrel.
