Phrases like "according to him", "said Spencer", and numerous quotes make it seem like the reporter went out of her way to make it clear she was not reporting her own perceptions.
The only evidence I saw suggesting the reporter saw a Carebot in motion, is "Martha the robot wheels across the room, headed straight for table, but instead of colliding she makes a graceful arc around the object. Once in a while, she’ll crack a bad joke with her Stephen Hawking-sounding computerized voice.". Sounds quite staged to me. One wonders why the reporter was not invited to see the robot in its in-home trials, or why those weren't even mentioned in the article.
The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.
