8:48am 04/25/05 Merrill cuts U.S. GDP growth forecast By Tomi Kilgore NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Merrill Lynch lowered its U.S. economic growth forecast to 3.4% from 3.7% in 2005 and to 3.2% from 3.3% in 2006 due to a higher-than-anticipated energy price environment and a sharper-than-expected slowdown in economies abroad. The brokerage firm believes inflation concerns are overdone due to below-potential growth during a time of continued excess capacity.
