Jul. 2--A new 10,000-square-foot downtown grocery store, the first of four planned for the city, opened Wednesday at Washington Towers at 50 N. Fourth St.
Super City-Mart, in the courtyard of the Fourth and Washington streets apartment complex, features a wide selection of fresh produce and ethnic foods, as well as dairy, bakery, frozen and other items.
The store is operated by City-Mart Stores, Wyomissing. The operating company's majority stockholder is Allied Financial Holdings, which is owned by former local bail bondsman Vincent J. Smith and his family. Both companies are based in Wyomissing.
