AP news todays reveals that the Cameron-built blowout preventer had design flaws that caused the April 20, 2010, BP oil rig explosion that resulted in the Gulf oil spill disaster. The Norwegian firm hired by the US government to test the blowout preventer also faulted the performance and design of the failsafe device.
