i hate to be a wet blanket on this issue; but, the news release in post 24670 does NOT say dnap was involved. contrary to a post last night stating "white male" (which i didn't specifically recall those exact words) was said in the thurs night broadcast, the news release only says "male". this, of course, would be because the dna was from semen mixed in with jon bonet blood, obviosly making it a male, so not indicative of dnaps' services necesarily being used.

you are also assuming dnap was involved because gaskin commented on the case. all he was stating, when asked to comment, was that putting the dna into the fbi database would not necesarily find a match, and stated the reasons why. if dnap was used, he certainly didn't verify it from not taking the opportunity, nor did he state how using dnap would be of help in pinpointing the suspect more narrowly. i know i was disapointed in watching the court tv broadcast that dnap wasn't specifically mentioned. i recall reading basically the same info recently in a newspaper article about the apparent suicide that was in doubt, plus the fact that they suspected two people were involved, thus making the implication the real murderer killed the only witness.

the one thing the tv broadcast did was open a lot of questions about how the boulder police [mis]handled the case from the gitgo.
