Howdy nug, I can't think of a better place to ask your questions. The guys here are always willing to help because we're average joes ourselves.

Here's my immediate answer. There are alot of factors that can cause a run. These are in no particular order:

- Great news
- Great filings (positive material events)
- Reverse Mergers & acquisitions
- a good SOS change (secretary of state)
- Chart looking good
- Bounces
- Insiders buying
- Short Squeezes (rare)
- Pumps (careful with these)
- Promos (careful with these)

I'm sure I left a few out but these should cover most of them. If you have time, google or research some of these catalysts. What I think is more important for newbies to learn is the bad things that can happen to a stock. There are alot more "bad" catalysts that can happen than "good" unfortunately.

Hope I answered your question and good luck. Have a good weekend Joes!
