I got my CO2 and LN2 mixed up. LN2 will stay a liquid at ambient temp and pressure whereas CO2 can only exist as a solid or gas at ambient conditions.



kind of. solid CO2 at ambient atm conditions is analogous to LN2 under ambient conditions. Both are not in their stable conditions and as iwfal pointed out, as soon as they absorb sufficient heat they transform to their stable gaseous (CO2) or supercritical states (N2). In anycase, putting something with a relatively low heat capacity and large expansivity onto a nuclear reactor is a very bad and impractical idea.
