My East Bay Apple store had a line down the inside of the mall and out a side door when I got there about 6:30. The report was they had 300 or so in line at 5PM. I dislike lines so I just went in and played with the device after waiting about 10 min to reach one. Excellent, IMO, faster, somewhat lighter, and overall more attractive. A staff person said the 16G Wi-Fi white model was the best seller. They were close to selling out all models, though, and all in line would not get one he said. But they get shipments everyday, but don't know how many or which models will arrive.

I then checked Wal-Mart and Target. Each store was sold out and each said they didn't get as many as expected.

I went home and ordered a black 32G Wi-Fi model from MacConnection. They say it should ship in about two weeks. I also got the smart cover in green to remind me how much hard earned money it cost me. I fully expect to be very happy with the iPad 2. As near as I can tell it's state of the art in all the dimensions that matter to me.
