First of all, Q-tunes, my compliments on a well-written post. It seems like jail has had a rehabilitative effect on you and it is refreshing to read a discussion about issues relevant to the topic at hand. Now, of course, I disagree with nearly everything you've said, but I am not "bug-eyed" with rage... wink

I'm sitting at airport gate and my time is limited, so you'll be pleased to know my response will be brief.

Yet nobody has stepped forward to admit they were wrong about it being a scam.

-For five years they've been promising us a p2p service offering free downloads of current libraries that can be played on virtually any device. NOTHING of the sort is implemented in this beta run. You know the details, so I won't rehash, but so far, there has NOT been a launch of anything remotely resembling the product they've been promising. Also, it appears there is no movement on satisfying the increasing number of judgment creditors out there who, believe me, have the power to bring Qtrax down if they care to.

And while we're talking scam, care to explain the humiliating pull down of the AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, and other artists they had no license for? That they would release music without metadata seems to be proof that they were basically stealing. There's no other explanation that is logical, and notice how fast that music disappeared when they got caught.

So, respectfully, I absolutely reserve my right to use the scam term.

Not only had they 'heard' from him, they have licensed their catalogs to him, for free global music.

I'm not certain I said that, but I did say I don't think the labels trust him whatsoever. And I've used Qtrax. The available music offerings are pitiful. Nothing relevant in current catalogs is downloadable. It is apparent the labels don't trust AK and are keeping him on VERY short leash. Right now the "old catalog" news is absolutely current.

The only thing we need is portability, which is coming, as stated in the PR

This same company stated in a PR three years ago that iPod compatibility was coming out very shortly. Since when do we trust BLLN's PRs? Is a crippled beta enjoying a trickle of traffic really indication we're hitting the ground running?

The DRM is meaningless, unless people don't want artists to be compensated.

Better tell that one to Apple. It may confuse them, as their music is not crippled with DRM and they've paid artists and labels over $75,000,000,000 in royalties. That is 75 BILLION, Q-Tunes.

And Grover.. just wait and see what phones and devices it works on. I don't think we will be disappointed!

If miracles do happen, maybe you could be right. If somehow AK were to gain the trust of labels and get real catalogs, and creditors agree to let AK keep his Dells powered up AND they figure out how to distribute DRM'd music that can be shared across all computers in a household and all mobile devices as well, there could be a chance. I mentioned being very impressed with the new windows phone in an earlier post. They are really stunning. And WinPhone7 supports core Silverlight capacities including media library access, so who am I to say what is impossible.

Anyway, glad you're out of jail, Q-Tunes, and appreciate your civility.
