Algae is the preferred biofuel feedstock
For a couple of reasons: First, algae is much more efficient at converting solar energy into chemical energy than terrestrial crops like corn or soy, requiring less surface area for biomass production. Algae also avoids many of the environmental challenges associated with conventional biofuels. Algae does not require arable land or potable water, which completely avoids completion with food resources.
