Colorado..The IRL and Cart will never get together, imo.
Nor is there any reason to do so. When the split came several years ago, most people thought the IRL would never make it.
Afterall Cart had all the big name teams..Penske, Andretti,
etc. Problem was they didn't have one thing. And that was the
Indianapolis Motor Speedway, home to the Indy 500, the gem of auto racing. When Tony George and his family, the Hullmans, owner of the speedway started the IRL, he had the one race
that means more than all the others. 400,000 fans for one race! Eventually the CART teams realized they had nothing without the Indy 500 and eventually the big name teams came crawling back to the IRL.They have mostly kissed and made up, but make no mistake Tony George IS the IRL. He makes the rules and everyone plays by them. There is virtually nothing left of the CART series,no big names, nothing. Tony George was responsible for smaller teams to get into the sport, and he still got the big name teams/drivers to come back into the fold. The original split was all about big egos and big money against other big egos and big money. It certainly didn't help open wheel racing and set back it's popularity for years although it is now coming around.
Now, when you talk about Nascar you are talking the best run,
PR machine out there. Their diehard fan base is unbelievable. That's probably why MSEP management wants to get into Nascar, as soon as financially possible. Once they can add some nascar drivers to their IRL stable of drivers, this stock could really rock imo. Nascar racing to me is like playing bumper cars and I don't care for it. Open wheel is waay cool and much more exciting, imo. But Racing fans are fanatics, whether it be IRL or Nascar. They spend money like water, each and every year.
IF you all are becoming race fans, you really must try to get to an IRL race some time. It's a great time. When you become a Diehard race fan, you must go to the INDY 500. There is truly no other race like it. Cass
