Emailed a professor at Georgia Tech about the efficiency of the Tri-Brid system, he was not involved in the testing or any knowledge, but added some input if it helps any.

Thank you for your message. Unfortunately, I was not involved in the tests reported
in the article that you sent me reference for and am not familiar with the product that
you are interested in.

From the article, I see that the subject of your interest is a solar collector, not a PV
cell, so the statements about its efficiency are probably somewhat misleading when
comparing it to a PV cell. Solar collectors collect heat, so their efficiency measures
are in conversion of sunlight to heat, not electricity. If electricity conversion were to
be done from the collected heat, it would be subject to the laws of thermodynamics
and would not look nearly as impressive as numbers quoted in the article. Single
junction PV cells are indeed limited in conversion efficiency to about 30 percent, but
that conversion is sunlight/electricity, not heat.
