International Roaming CDMA Style ...

... for one's next Bermuda trip? .... but no SMS there and certainly no MMS.

This is certainly progress, however.

Maybe Brazil, Chile, or Argentina where the girls of Ipanema go walking (which would be nice for MMS) someday?

>> Verizon Announces Expanded International Roaming

Verizon subscribers can now use their phones in 11 countries beyond the US border. Previously Verizon users could not leave North America with their CDMA handset, now the carrier has signed roaming agreements with networks in Bermuda, China, Dominican Republic, Israel, Jamaica, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, South Korea, Taiwan and Venezuela as well as Canada and Mexico. Calls while roaming outside the US are 69 cents per minutes and text messages, which are only available while in Canada and Dominican Republic, are 25 cents to send and 2 cents to receive. Although CDMA2000 is available in 45 countries, not all networks and frequencies are compatible with Verizon handsets. Verizon offers the dual mode CDMA/GSM Samsung A790 for roaming in over 100 countries.
