AMD is previewing the Athlon 64 X2 on April 21, at the DC Opteron launch. For desktop and mobile. They should be launched by the end of June. And to quote Hexus.net, they should "rape" Smithfield in performance terms.

So, as it would appear to work out:

Intel launches DC[pu] desktop EE April 18, DC[pu] desktop in May/June.
AMD launches DC[ore] desktop in June, ~0-2 months behind

AMD launches DC[ore] server April 21.
Intel launches DC[pu] server in Q1 2006, ~8-11 months behind

On balance, then, AMD is ahead, even if Intel launched a few desktop dual-cpu hack jobs 3 days before AMD launches server dual-core parts.

I mean, look, Intel could only manage to get Dell to launch with them on April 18. (Oh, and Alienware.) No HP. It's clear this was recently pulled in from May/June. That's why they only have the EE parts set to go.
