I hear ya...I think SOXY's point was women aren't aggressive enough; sadly I have to agree that is true for most, not all females. And as I mentioned, this is clearly demonstrated in the job market - when a female and male are hired for the SAME position, the female typically will be offered less in compensation...she (we) do not negotiate/"fight" for more money up front, consequently we never catch up to male earnings.
I've been thinking of how the teachers union is treated these days...the teachers union is the largest union in the US yet they get kicked around by pols and by that segment of the population that does not value edu - the conserv media especially has an on-going campaign to vilify teachers - and it just so happens, the teaching profession is dominated by females. Male-dominated unions, i.e. police/fire/and in the past steel workers would never take that crap; they know/knew how to "fight" for what they deserve.

Are celebs treated differently? Sure, they always have been. Why does a prof football/baseball player get so much more $$$ than the teacher of our future leaders? More people follow the problems Charlie Sheen(sp?) has than follow what is going on in Libya, or could even find Libya on a map for that matter...It all circles back to edu, and a dumbed-down society. There's a price to pay for dumbing down...we see it played out in WI these days!

Don't complain for what you don't have - be thankful you don't get what you deserve.
