There are a lot of unknowns amidst great promise in the stem cell arena. There's a company from Germany that partners with one of the southern CA hospitals near me and they have a rep evaluate patients once a month for stem cell therapies.

The primary elimination factor is if you have any history of cancer anywhere in your body. It seems that some of the stem cell treatments can cause cancer to grow/spread. And, that makes me wonder about those getting treatments that are unaware of any existing cancers in their body?

There are still a lot of hurdles to cross for it to become mainstream. And yes, with ongoing technological advances one never knows which part of the industry will be obsolete down the road.
