So what happens to all these stocks that disappeared? investor just lose out if they had positions in them?

You are missing the point. They just aren't being quoted on the OTCBB quotation service any more. That's the basic point. Doesn't impact what one holds in their brokerage account.

This is more about how sausage is made, not the flavor of the sausage. Comprende?
