It is just you. - g- No, you are partially right. The US carriers did not spend any money for 3g spectrum. In the US, 3G is going in the existing frequencies. It is the European carriers who spent 140Billion for a patch of spectrum for 3G, which they mandated must go in 2.1 GHz. So yes, the Euro carriers are smarting and trying to repair their balance sheets. But a few of them have been able to weasel out of their spectrum contracts with their respective governments. The equipment vendors also have not been able to deliver any handsets at all. There is no 3G handsets in Europe at the moment. The Euro version of 3G can not even hand off a mobile phone between cell towers yet. But these problems do not exist in the US. We have our own set of issues here.
