I agree with your post. As for consolidation in the chip and equipment sector, I have been predicting for a long time that before all is said and done with the economy and the markets both sectors will see consolidation and companies that do not survive. There are far too many chip makers, and a number of excess and overlapping companies in the equipment sector as well.
