Let me fill you in about construction labor and labor in general big guy. Take a base of $18 per hour. Thats what it is up there open shop and that is on the high end. Burden is what it is. Try 1-2% fringes...ins/taxes/comp 30%...gen liability 5%...small tools and equip 5%...unapplied vehicles 10%
That is 52%......make it 60% just because.
18 * 1.60= $28.80
Now a contractor has to make some money to pay his bills. If your overhead exceeds 30%...get out of business. Now you need some profit...its America...try 15%
$28.80 * 1.30 = $37.44
$37.44 * 1.15 = $43.06
Keeping it simple...overtime at 1 1/2 would be $64.59 and that is excessive since you are not paying 1 1/2 times your burden. Dble time is the same...$86.12.
There is no 100 per hour or 200 per hour. That is contract labor in a nutshell. $18 bucks is a mix....If you think its a service call you might warrant a buck and a quarter but I doubt it for pipefitters, sheetmetal workers, plumbers and electricians. Play with real numbers.
