I just looked it up on Scottrade, and this is what it says...

Red - trade occurred on the bid.
Green - trade occurred on the ask.
Light Blue - trade occurred inside the bid or ask.
Dark blue - trade occurred outside the bid or ask.

I dont think there can be a buy without a sell or a sell without a buy.

Only trades that occur at different prices, and different colors relative to the bid and ask.
