I'll give you one example for bid support. The bid/ask was tilted towards the ask most of the day with MM's stacked and no volume. The mm's walked it down on next to no volume to initiate selling. That's the time for bid support. A buy order in just below high bid provides bid support and may prevent the mm's from dropping it on a 5k share trade.

Remember the mm's use automated trading platforms so if you understand L2 you can use it to your advantage. MM's are in business to make money on the trade, if there is no volume to buy with and the ask is stacked they will walk it down to initiate sellers.
