Astounding. He sure witnessed a lot while he was Pope, not the least of which was the fall of the Soviet Union.
And evidently a very popular Pope within the Catholic community and world leaders in general. Although he did take GW to task for the war in Iraq, and rightly so. I'm not saying we should or should not have gone to war there, but that is the position I think any Pope should have taken, based on the flimsy evidence of WMD in that country.
