if you search on the Seasonality thread for "soldiers" you'll find a recent post that distinguishes my 3WS from the classic Nison or Morris description.
i sort for three days of successive higher volumes AND
3 days where the difference between the close and the open is increasing AND
3 days of higher closes.
Here's the formula test for TIV behind my scan:

(11.82 - 10.74 ) > ( 10.15 - 9.12) AND

11.82 > 10.74 AND 10.15 > 9.12 AND 9.12 > 8.20
