Yes, I've often remarked that immigrants who come here fall into one of two types: the ones who work, save, invest and prosper, and the ones who indulge themselves by buying every gadget they couldn't afford in the old country, and live always on the brink of insolvency and potential poverty. I have Ukrainian friends who buy a new car every other year, and give their son a new iPhone each year. They are never out of debt, and they can barely keep current on their mortgage. Both work in the garment industry, not a very secure area unless retail picks up significantly. I will be surprised if at some point they do not lose their home. . .
