The accusation of hiding is a perceptual interpretation. There are many reasons a company does not have financial information immediately available. The two most acceptable reasons are:

the company is working on compiling the numbers and/or

the company is in a developing situation where compiling financials would be a waste of time since the projects to be completed would affect the balance sheets considerably in the near future.

As a side note - If one can't handle the stink either from oneself or otherwise, perhaps the pinkies are not the venue an investor should be in. Remember there is always ways to make money out of manure, and sometimes flowers do grow out of such piles.
