Nice article. I hope XM and Siri don't spend so much money they wind up at the bottom of the pond. I just spent $99 on an XM receiver and just a few minutes ago activated my subscription (but only for a month.)

I have 30 days to return the receiver to Crutchfield and I want to make sure this is something I'm going to get some use out of. So far, everyone I've talked to that has satellite radio just raves about it, but I'm one of those show-me types. We'll see...

Our local radio is pure crap. We have one AM station that's not snake-handling holy-roller bible-thumpers, and it's so weak that if you go behind one little hill it fades out. The FM stations have three playlists, each with 11 songs, and they rotate those playlists around once a week.

The only radio I listen to now is NPR. When Mr. Hollander stated that, "People are emotionally involved with local radio." he obviously had never been to the Tri-Cities, Tennessee.
