Thirty years ago when I was in my late teens, I worked with my dad on his placer gold claim in Northern BC, just seventy miles south of the Yukon border. We were only looking at a few grams per ton too. I'm not sure exactly what we (I mean he) made that year because I was just a mule with a shovel. However, I do know that my dad said it would have been profitable for us to bring in equipment if the Mining Ministry land use regulations would not have been so strict.
Like you said earlier; even if NWTT gold claims only averages out to be 0.25oz/ton., we will all be very happy.
